Review: Alverde Aloë Vera Hibiskus conditioner

Voor het artikel van vandaag heb ik weer een conditioner getest. Eentje uit Duitsland, gekocht bij de DM. Lekker goedkoop, en ook nog eens met veel natuurlijke ingrediënten! Dat belooft altijd een hoop goeds, mijn haar is namelijk gek daarop. Vandaar dat ik in de winkel ook eigenlijk het eerste naar dat soort conditioners grijp, en zeker als ik die nog nooit eerder had gebruikt. Aangezien Alverde niet in Nederland verkocht word, was dit dus ook zo’n gevalletje van nog nooi geprobeerd, en ik was dus heel benieuwd naar hoe ik hem zou vinden 🙂

For today’s article, I tested a conditioner. One I bought in Germany, at the DM. Very cheap, and it contains lots of natural ingredients! Which my hair happens to very much enjoy. So that’s why those kind of conditioners are usually the first thing I go for, especially if I’ve never tried them before. Seeing as Alverde isn’t being sold in the Netherlands, this was one of such cases. And I really enjoyed trying this conditioner 🙂

De verpakking is behoorlijk simpel en compact. Niet heel opvallend, maar er is ook niets mis mee. De roze dop, die mooi bij de afbeelding op de sticker past, maakt het wel een vrolijk geheel. Hij voelt ook lekker stevig aan, dat vind ik altijd een pluspunt. Tenslotte valt er wel eens wat tijdens het douchen en haren wassen, dan is het wel zo prettig als de flacon dat gewoon aankan.

Op de sticker staat duidelijk de naam van het merk, Alverde Naturkosmetik, en ook dat het een conditioner is. Dan wat de belangrijkste ingrediënten zijn, wat het doel van de conditioner is, en voor welk haartype hij bedoeld is. Wel allemaal in het Duits, natuurlijk, maar de belangrijkste woorden zijn makkelijk genoeg te herkennen als Nederlander 😉 Hoewel mijn haar niet droog of beschadigt is (het heeft eerder een neiging tot snel vettig worden), vind ik conditioners voor dit haartype toch het fijnst. Meestal zijn ze namelijk echt goed voedend en verzorgend, en dat is zeker met lang haar heel belangrijk.

The packaging is rather simple and compact. Not very outstanding, but there’s nothing wrong with it. The pink cap, which goes nicely with the images on the sticker, does make the whole thing look nice and fun. It also feels very sturdy, which is a plus. After all, things tend to be dropped sometimes, when taking a shower and washing hair, so it’s good if the bottle can actually survive that without a scratch.

On the sticker, the name of the brand (Alverde Naturkostmetik) immediately stands out. The fact that it’s a conditioner is also clearly visible, as well as the most important ingredients, what the goal of this conditioner is, and for which hair type it is meant to be used. Okay, it does say all of that in German, but I recognised it as a conditioner so I guess most people will 😉 Although my hair isn’t dry or damaged (it actually has a tendency to get oily), I do prefer to use conditioners that are meant for that hair type. They’re usually very nourishing and hydrating, which is important for long hair.

Het eerste ingrediënt is water, wat behoorlijk standaard is. Daarna komt Glycine Soja Oil (organisch), wat hydraterend is. Aloë Vera en Hibiscus staan ook hoog in de lijst. Dat is mooi, want dat houdt in dat de ingrediënten op de voorkant ook echt belangrijk zijn in de samenstelling van het product (en niet alleen aanwezig als parfum ergens onderaan, wat bij sommige andere merken het geval is). Verder zie ik een hoop oliën en proteïnen, ook allemaal goed nieuws voor het haar!

De conditioner bevat geen siliconen, en de enige parfum is een natuurlijke essentiële olie. Verder is de verpakking 100% vervaardigd uit natuurlijk materiaal, en uiteraard ook weer recyclebaar. En hij is veganistisch.

The first ingredient is water, which is pretty standard. Next on the list is organic Glycine Soy Oil, which is hydrating. Aloe Vera and Hibiscus are also high on the list. Which is very good, seeing as that means that the ingredients on the front of the bottle are actually used as main ingredients for the product (instead of only there as a perfume somewhere at the bottom of the list, as is the case with some other brands). Other than that, I see a lot of oils and protein. I think my hair is going to love this!

This conditioner doesn’t contain silicones, and the only perfume is a natural essential oil. Also, the packaging was made for 100% from recycled material, and can of course be recycled itself. And it’s vegan.

Ik heb de conditioner een aantal keren gebruikt, en vooral na dagen dat ik veel in de zon ben geweest met mijn haar los. Dat kan redelijk uitdrogend zijn voor het haar, wat dan weer een goede uitdaging creëert voor de conditioner!

Het eerste wat mij bij deze conditioner opvalt, is de consistentie. Hij is dikker dan dat ik verwacht had, en moet goed in het haar gekneedt worden. Nou zegt de dikte van een conditioner vaak wel wat over de werking, hoe dikker hoe voedender is meestal waar je van uit kan gaan. Zodra het goed in de lengte van mijn haar zit, rol ik het in een losse knoten geef het een paar minuten de tijd om in te werken. Daarna is het tijd om hem uit te spoelen. De geur vind ik trouwens heerlijk, een zachte en zoete bloemengeur.

Bij het uitspoelen merk ik al dat mijn haar makkelijk te ontklitten is, dat is al een goed teken. En zodra het gedroogd is, voelt mijn haar zacht en gevoed aan. Ook glanst het mooi, en ziet er gewoon gezond en verzorgd uit. Ik vind het alleen wel een beetje jammer dat de geur niet echt blijft hangen in het haar, maar buiten dat is dit echt een heerlijke conditioner!

I’ve used this conditioner a few times, especially after days in which I’ve been out in the sun with my hair loose. Bright sunlight can be rather drying to the hair, which makes for a perfect opportunity to put this conditioner to the test!

The first thing I noticed about this conditioner, is how thick it is. Thicker than I had expected, I did really need to work it into my hair. The thickness of a conditioner does usually say something about how good it is, though. The thicker, the better.  As soon as the product is properly distributed through the length of my hair, I put it in a loose bun and give the conditioner a few minutes to do its job. Then, it’s time to rinse it out. By the way, I think the scent is lovely, it smells soft and sweet like flowers.

While rinsing it out, I already noticed how my hair seems much easier to de-tangle. And once it has dried, my hair feels soft and nourished, and looks healthy and shiny. I do find it a bit of a downside that the scent doesn’t really stay in the hair. But apart from that, this is a very good conditioner!

Ik weet niet zeker meer hoeveel de Alverde Aloë Vera Hibiskus conditioner kostte, maar het was hooguit tussen de €2 en €3. Niet duur dus, en dat geldt gelukkig voor veel dingen bij de DM. Echt een aanrader als je toevallig in de buurt van Duitsland bent.

Alles in aanmerking genomen, verpakking, prijs, ingrediënten, geur en werking, kan ik maar tot één conclusie komen; ik vind dit een fantastische conditioner. Mijn haar is er blij mee, hij is lekker dik en ruikt heerlijk. Ook voor droog haar schat ik zo in dat hij prima resultaten zal behalen, want hij is echt goed verzorgend. Ja, deze hoort intussen absoluut bij mijn favoriete conditioners!

I can’t quite remember what the price of the Alverde Aloe Vera Hibiskus condioner was, but it was €2 to €3 at most. Not expensive, which luckily goes for a lot of things at the DM. Which is really a drugstore I recommend visiting if you ever happen to be in or near Germany.

Taking everything into account, the packaging, price, ingredients, scent and how well it works, I can only come to one conclusion; I think this is an amazing conditioner. My hair loves it, it’s nice and thick and smells great. I’m guessing it will also bring very good results for dry hair, as it is really very nourishing. Yes, this conditioner is definitely one of my all-time favourites!
